Apprenticeships at National Grid
Company: National Grid
Location: United Kingdom
THIS IS THE BUSINESS THAT EQUIPS YOU FOR THE FUTURE
This is National Grid. This is the business that brings electricity and gas to the nation. This is the business that runs 176,000 miles of gas pipeline and 4,500 miles of electricity transmission networks. This is one of the leading companies in the UK and one of the largest energy utilities in the world.Various apprenticeship roles are on offer for a rewarding career in an area that is critical to our business and the infrastructure of Britain. National Grid has a well-established apprenticeship programme, which has been awarded a Grade 1 for outstanding leadership and management by the Adult Learning Inspectorate (the government body that monitors the standards of industry education and training). A National Grid Advanced Apprenticeship is more than a job. It’s an education – and the start of a bright future.
National Grid’s Advanced Apprenticeship is a two to three year programme. Half of the training will be off-the-job and the rest will be working with experienced people – many of whom have gone through an apprenticeship themselves. In the first year of the programme, you’ll spend around eight months at one of our training centres – learning all about how we do business and what the job involves. The rest of the time you’ll be out in
the field at various sites.
Throughout the training, you’ll have a personal mentor to support you and give you feedback and advice, and there will be regular reviews to update you on your progress. You will complete the programme with a professional qualification, comprising a Key Skills Level 2 Certificate, a foundation NVQ Level 2 and NVQ Level 3, with a supporting technical
certificate that’s relevant to your area of the company.
We want our company to be as diverse and amazing as the communities we serve, so if you have an interest in engineering, like the outdoors and have at least four GCSEs (grades A-C, including Maths and English), be part of it!
