West Midlands Police is the country’s second largest - and one of the best performing - forces in the country. The region sits at the very heart of the country and covers the three major centres of Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton. The West Midlands is an area rich in diversity, with 18 per cent of its population from ethnic minority backgrounds.

The force deals with more than 2,000 emergency calls for help every day, as well as patrolling the streets and responding to incidents 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week.

West Midlands Police can offer you a fantastic, challenging and rewarding career and we are committed to recruiting a workforce that reflects all strands of diversity.

Over recent years we have won a large number of major national and regional awards for a wide range of innovative projects, exceptional policing and pioneering initiatives.

As of July 2009, the force is made up of 8,819 police officers, supported by 4,446 police staff, 586 special constables and 817 police community support officers (PCSOs). Female officers representing 29 per cent of the total force strength and 63 per cent of our police staff are female.
